It exemplifies the positive change that legalizing gay marriage brought to same-sex couple and supporters. It also shows how long it took to legalize same-sex marriage in New York, and it shows that we are not done. The wheelchair symbolizes how long it took to legalize gay marriage and shows that we cannot wait longer to legalize same-sex marriage states with laws against it.
