Ghadames Libya, George Steinmetz 2013

The traditional mud-brick houses in this image are of varying sizes and heights, and are arranged in no specific fashion.  However they are unified with walkways that were designed before the Roman empire for women to move freely while concealed from the view of men. This concept simulates the way that women are shrouded in Muslim society today.
